The Sloth

The Sloth.

The outraged gods finally had internal peace with themselves and decided to conceive earth. The chaos reining the territories was over. Grass, trees and green bushes became present. The green color was everywhere. The rays of the sun arose from the clouds and living creatures appeared, this animals had a world to live in, a home that the gods had entrusted them to take care of. Equilibrium in the world was possible because of order, the order of having a clean environment and the effect of a functional society. Unity and teamwork made the perfect combination among animals and the planet.

The animals serve the planet, and the planet serves the animals. This kept the gods contented for ages.

Everything was perfect; all the animals were performing their respective activities as always, except for one… The sloth. The sloth starts to wake up after its 20-hour nap. -“What an incredible nap. I should go and eat something”- it says. Then it proceeds to get off the tree, breaking lots of branches, including a bird’s nest in its way down. The sloth landed next to the giraffe family, who where resting after cleaning. “Oh, it’s you again… You are not sleeping. That means you are going to eat something, it’s the only things you do; Sleep and eat.” Said the giraffe. “I’m too tired for this nagging. Plus you are all being the dumb ones. Don’t you realize that all this ‘taking care of the planet’ is stupid? I haven’t done a thing for this planet and everything is just fine!” Replied the sloth. The giraffe stayed quiet as it thinks. The sloth proceeds to steal the food of the rhinoceros. “Why are you stealing? You can’t even eat that much food, you are way smaller than rhino,” said the giraffe. “Shut up long-neck, I’m way too tired to look for my own food” The sloth said while it eats a fifth of rhino’s food and then throws the rest to the ground. “What are you doing? That’s polluting!” “Ah… I told you, you are all way too dumb.” The sloth climbed its tree for a second nap. The giraffe, who was tired, decided to tell it’s family to stop working.

The lion, who saw everything, became jealous that the giraffe family had stopped working. He decided to call up a meeting with all the animals. “Since the giraffe and the sloth had decided to stop contributing to this planet and to the gods’ entrustment, I propose to banish them form our lands forever!” Said the Lion. “What are you talking about?” Said the sloth. “Don’t blame us for your foolishness, the gods were clearly joking when they told us to take care of the environment, nothing is going to happen if we don’t. They’re making fun of us by obligating us to work without purpose”. Suddenly, the tables were turned, all the animals agreed with the sloth’s arguments and decided to stop working.

Rapidly enough, everything that was once green was now covered by a thick layer of waste, dead bugs, and food residuals. The world was falling apart. Not too soon after, the gods noted this impairment in their world. They decided to do what they have done before with the human’s world; they ended the planet once again.
