She'd berated him for the last time
He saw the fire in her stare
So, he gave her a cold hard smile

"I'm sorry if someone convinced you that your opinion matters"
He told her with a bite

She shuddered and stared, mouth agape

"You're right. It sounded stupid as soon as I said it"
He chided with an icy hiss
"Saying sorry implied that I actually have a smattering of care"
