For all those nights you spent alone
Held close to ward off all the cold
When you reached the precipice
Where nightmare fades and sleep persists
Your best friend there to keep you safe
With just a touch of its embrace

For all those night you'd lie awake
Staring at the empty place
Where long ago you felt so safe
Is nothing now but empty space

For all those nights from childhood days
Have all but changed to empty space
You fondly look to yesterdays
When your teddybear made you feel safe
