We Two Boys Clinging Together

We two boys clinging together,

One never leaving the other,

Going up and down the roads,

Making excursions north and south,

Enjoying power, stretching elbows, clutching fingers,

Armed and fearless, eating, drinking, sleeping, loving,

Owning no law less than ourselves, sailing, soldiering, thieving, threatening,

Alarming misers, menials, and priests, breathing air, drinking water, dancing on the turf or the sea-beach,

Wrenching cities, scorning ease, mocking statutes, chasing feebleness,

Fulfilling our foray.

WE two boys together clinging,

One the other never leaving,

North and South excursions making,

Power enjoying, elbows stretching, fingers clutching,

Arm’d and fearless, eating, drinking, sleeping, loving,

No law less than ourselves owning, sailing, soldiering, thieving, threatening,

Misers, menials, priests alarming, air breathing, water drinking, on the turf or the sea-beach dancing,
