Legally Tender
The key of currency
is the changing of hands—
a baton passed
on in constant motion:
the soft creak of paper,
the tang of fresh ink
binding every participant.
An untouched bloom of paper,
crisp as dawn’s first light,
slips between your fingers—
its epic journey awaiting:
from dawn’s market stalls
to a child’s candy-shop grin,
through late-night diner trays;
each crease a tale well told,
each worn note singing its past.
