Oliver's Catfished Dreams

A young bloke, soft heart,
looked online for a friend.
Thought he'd find fair dinkum mates,
hit scams instead, hard knocks.
Fagin's emails landed,
slick with sweet talk.

Promised fortunes, easy coin.
"Just a few quid," he'd reckon,
"To unlock my stash, truly."

Oliver, trusting as they come,
sent his hard-earned cash.
Learned slow, the hard way
he'd been had, hook, line, and sinker.

Now he walks wary, sadder maybe,
through the bytes and screens.
Trust wears thin online now.

No more chasing mirages for this chap,
from dial-up days to 5G speeds,
he spots fresh traps miles off.
