The English Prayer At Thanksgiving

Almighty and everlasting God

Look kindly upon these Pilgrim souls

Who depart this world on the tide

May you see fit to speed them on

To pastures new when they have gone

Where plain in pious prudity

Without lewdness, oaths or nudity

They may build for Zion a colony

Devoid of drink and sinful flesh

Where the word is law and the law is heard

But above all dear Lord we beseech of thee

Let the storm winds blow and the oceans churn

So the dismal bastards don’t return

Amen
