Sanctuary

There is a warm breeze blowing off the ocean.

The sun sits just on the horizon,

at the end of the day.

Creating a mirror image in the surface of the sea.

The is a full moon faintly visible high in the sky.

A few white puffy clouds hand drifting lazily above.

The sounds of birds calling echo all around me faintly.

The sea crashes softly upon the beach.

The trees rustle as the breeze blows through their branches.

The wind chimes up at the hut sounds quietly from up on the hill.

Sand pushes up through my toes as I walk along the beach.

The beach extends out in front of me curving off to the right

continuing around my little island.

My Sanctuary.

There is a live of trees to my right where the beach ends.

And the forest begins.

They are tall and a bright vibrant green.

They cast soft shadows upon the ground making ideal spots for napping.

The air is perfumed with the sweet smell of lavender and other wild flowers.

The sea adds its own smell to the air in the form of a slight saltiness.

I sit down in sand covered by the shade from a very large tree,

My back leaning against the massive trunk.

The sand and tree seem to gives a little to cushion my weight.

I take a moment to let my mind wander and drift.

Observing as it floats from one thought to another or dwelling on one train of thought.

The rhythmic sounds of the waves calm my mind drowning out all of my thoughts.

Allowing me to focus on my body,

Felling it as a whole,

All the parts.

The sounds and smells combine to lull me into a deep slumber.

Visions come and go as I dream.

I stir from my sleep only to find the sun has set and the moon shines brightly in the sky.

The breeze still blows only slightly cooler now.

As I stand I find myself a little stiff and stretch up towards the sky and down to the earth.

And know that here I am safe from all harm.
