The Cage

The night sky burns red
As it's embers shine through
This rectangular cage
populated by you
upon your escape
from this cage of a room
the birds all shall sing
the flowers will bloom
The hours and days
Lie dormant in glass
Like the sands of time
Like a thin blade of grass
Grass that lies still
Until the breath of a breeze
rushing over a meadow
Where time seems to freeze
Although time may seem frozen
The day shall be soon
Where you'll dance in that meadow
Forever leaving that room
keep that room in the past
A distant memory
Replace negativity and doubt
With love and family.
And no matter the struggle
The inevitable fear
The backs that will turn
I'll be waiting right here.
