Toxic Hypocrisy

Forced to fight, given choice of opponent:

both similar in weight and size.

One glares at you menacingly;

the other curled up as he cries.

(Who do you choose?)

In a panicked situation,

two people cope with the commotion.

One calmly works towards a solution,

the other caves to their emotion.

(Who do you choose?)

You can call it toxic masculinity,

I call it unfortunate truth;

when it comes to domestic biology,

It'll be me protecting you.

(Hypocrisy courses through)

With every tear that you let fall,

Pandora's Box will slowly crack;

rather than being a leaky faucet,

save your rain, for days, dressed in black.

(Mourn those you lose)

It takes strength to restrain emotion,

when weaker men would cry;

when protecting those you love,

be toxic while others hide.

(Perspective for you)
