I Dream My Life

‘Twas only a kiss in a pleasant dream,
As light as the touch of a soft moonbeam—
Unexpected, yet desired just the same,
The false check move in a silent game.

‘Twas only a dream, yet it felt so real,
This kiss that in life I cannot fulfill.
It was only a dream that we have kissed.
It was only a dream of a longed-for tryst.
