Eggs

I contemplate

On sorrow

On grief

On pain

I embrace them

They are close to me

Close to who I really am

I collapse under their weight

Rubble falls around me

I fight to hold it up

And the pieces break at my touch

And I am buried

I have often been stuck in the rubble of my own decisions

Who among us has avoided that calamity?

Pierced by the irons we heated in the fire

Gawking at the eggs we put all in one basket

White shells crunching under the feet of passersby

All I’ve ever known is emotion

All I know is emotion

Tonight I choose to allow it

Fluidity and grace

In accepting that which you cannot alter or arrange

It is the peace of waiting

For the inevitable change
