My Mental Swim

Folder:
Under My Dome

(aka When I pray)

Peace Comes...

Peace comes from the action

taken as I move.

Rhythmically.

Gracefully.

Pulling myself through the waters

Wide...

and deep.

I swim.

The laps long and the distances...

immeasurable.

For in the moment,

it is as if time stands...

still.

No ticks.

No tocks.

Only the sound of my measured

breathing and the soft stroking

of the water as I, like a swan,

glide with ease.

It is peaceful here.

And as I labor to find my center,

I realize I am serene.

Zen, even.

At one with the universe and all

around me.

And it is here where I,

think clearest, reason most accutely, and am at my most...

calm.

As I get from under my own dome,

my mental swimming complete,

the world is new, bright, and I...

am at peace.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I am a Christian who is very interested in Eastern philosophies. I believe that we can find God's truth in many places and it is an interest. I wrote this piece to express how I feel when I pray and after my praying is done. It's a simple piece but very much a personal favorite.
