GLISTENING IN THE DAY OF DREAD

Clearing the ice which were sparkles of light

Glistening in the day of dread

Headed to work and only wishing

I could stay home in bed instead.



Frozen fingertips from cold dew exposure

Nose hair frozen and standing on end.

Chilling the effect as the vapors arise

The nostrils sting with the breath taken in.



Cheeks are dry and cold but feel hot

My body temp has no direction

Whether to be cold on the outside

Or to be warm from compensation within.



Playfully thinking of beaches in summer

To tell my mind it is what it is not.

Reality hits when the wind blows harder

And all the warm memories quickly stop.



Cold bright crystals slapping my face

With tiny pulsating fingers of pain

When the wind whips my hair all around

And exposes my ears to the solid rain.



The bed is calling me harder and harder

My mind is pulling me there too.

Better go back and start the day over

There is always tomorrow with things to d
