lost is the old
even though it hurts
giving up a best friend and
a little girl i gave birth to

time for the new
a new family
a fiancee
a life to live for me

the time has come to stop looking
at the past and start life for the future

a life away from abuse
away from drugs and alcohol

a life sober and better than my mother could ever have
a life free of the pain i suffered as a child
a life of freedom for any other children i might have

a new life for me has dawned
and this time i will not give it up for anything
