August 2003 Poetry Time after time I tried,
to turn things around for us,
to help us hold on to the love,
that kept me alive.
But you can't change what won't.
No matter how much you try.
Some things are inevitable.
I can't make you love me.
I can't change what won't,
and I've learned that.
Now you're going to have to learn that too.
You can't change what won't,
I'll love you always.
