I Can Tell

Folder:
July 2002 Poetry

I can tell there’s something wrong,

I can hear it in your voice.

I ask but you say nothing,

and hey that is your choice.

~

You can chose to talk,

or stay silent if you please.

Sit in silence on the porch,

or cry upon your knees.

~

I can tell how you are feeling.

There is no need to hide.

So show you true emotions,

in me you can confide.

~

I’ll hold you close and dry your tears.

There’s no need to be afraid.

I can tell you need some comfort,

in a sorrowful puddle your heart’s been laid.

~

So if you need someone to be there,

my dear just call on me.

I’m cheaper than a councilor,

the ear I lend is free.

~

The space inside my arms,

isn’t for sale or rent.

It’s meant for those who need some comfort,

or need to be content.

~

My shoulder is available,

anytime of day.

There is no closing time,

or money you have to pay.

~

I’ll be there at no cost,

my dear cause I’m your friend.

And it will stay that way forever,

at least until my end.

~

I can tell your yearning,

to find someone who cares.

No need to look much further,

what you want is already there.

I wrote this on 7-23-02. A little humor mixed in there but basically a serious friendship poem.
