March 2002 Poetry

The beauty of,

the majestic mountains,

stretches far beyond,

the northern rim.

~

The sun rises,

just over the east city wall.

Water encircles your ship,

as you leave today.

~

The sun would once,

make your eyes glisten.

But now, only your tears glisten,

for we are parting my dear friend.

~

I would travel,

ten thousand miles,

to dry your tears,

but I can’t.

~

I can only wish,

for you are a wanderer,

dreaming loud,

and floating in the breeze.

~

My emotions are overcome,

with sadness as you leave.

I was falling in love with you,

with this person, my shining sun.

~

But now that sun has set,

and from here you will go.

With the wave of my hand,

you were gone.
