The Journey To You

Folder:
2001 Poetry

The rustle of the leaves,

the wind blowing through my hair.

I don't know where I'm going,

all I know is that you're there.

~

The steady sway of prairie grass,

the steady sway of trees.

From you, the words I love you,

mean much more than it seems.

~

As the clouds start forming,

and the rain starts to fall,

getting there to see you,

is what matters most of all.

~

You don't know that I'm coming,

it's all a big surprise.

And as I think about you,

the tears form in my eyes.

~

Tears falling like the rain,

body swaying with the wind.

I feel like I'm in hell,

I feel as though I've sinned.

~

Our love was like a fire,

an ever burning flame.

Now that fire is dying out,

and I'm the one who's blamed.

~

The stars that shine above me,

they're here to guide my way.

They are a constant reminder,

that I'll find you again someday.

~

Now the sun is shinning,

so bright, so calm, and true,

and soon it will be my turn,

to tell you I love you.
