Back-seat Vocalist

Karyn Indursky

Upon her wooden stool
she sits strumming her guitar
singing about her secret crush
on a guy, who doesn't notice her
and what would it take for him
to see her beyond a friend.
Upon her wooden stool
she sits strumming her guitar
singing about her secret crush
when in his band she won't sing,
but his singer will as she hangs
in the background wondering
what it'd be like to have him
for her own and for him to know
the meaning beyond her song.
Upon her wooden stool
she sits strumming her guitar
with her rhythmic body surging
electricity from mere thoughts
of what his body would feel like
beneath her soulful fingers and
how tasty his lips would be
for satisfying her yearning desires.
Upon her wooden stool
she sits strumming her guitar
with her amazing voice singing
out every shimmering lyric powerfully
without him ever noticing.
Upon her wooden stool
she sits strumming her guitar
until it's over and he's blind.
Upon her wooden stool
she sits holding her guitar
with her draping blonde locks
shining woven gold while her
eyes sink lower and she wishes
on a shooting star for one magical
night in her crush's arms,
but it's not to be.
Back-seat vocalist.
