Scratchy Kitten's Tongue (Haiku)

Karyn Indursky

Scratchy kitten's tongue
licks my surprised, but happy
face of gratitude.

Face of gratitude
shines in her pretty bronze eyes
when stroking her fur.

When stroking her fur
I can feel her delicate
softness embrace me.

Softness embrace me
before her daggers cut through
my fragile white flesh.

My fragile white flesh
bleeds and turns red when she plays
while I am her toy.

While I am her toy
I love seeing her happy
for she is a gift.

For she is a gift
from our beloved Father
and I am grateful.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is a poem about my kitten. She's soft, gorgeous, beautiful, playful, and a gift from God.
