Willow Tree’s Shade

Willow tree’s shade,
keeping my flute of claret cool.
Willow tree’s shade,
while long hanging branches cascade.
Acrimony of sunlight pools
as my thoughts beguile this old fool.
Willow tree’s shade.

Poetic Form: Rondelet

This is a typical French form that uses a refrain and two rhymes.
The first, third and last line are four syllables (or two feet), and
the four lines remaining are eight syllables (or four feet).

This gives a rhyme scheme of...

A, b, A, a, b, b, A

A = the refrain (repeating line)

and a syllable count of

4, 8, 4, 8, 8, 8, 4
