The Empty Chair
He wont be here
for Thanksgiving
this year,
nor others
that will follow.
All these years
he was a
staple at the table,
to give thanks
and joke with
the family.
No more
will we see his smile
across the feast,
though his presence
will be felt
until that day,
when we join him
to give thanks
in the great beyond.
