Things Remembered

Folder:
2006 Poetry

Sweet scents waffle in the night air,

where they come from I know not where.

Floating by to stir my senses,

causing me to lower my defenses.

Lilacs of color in the dark,

off in the distance I hear dogs bark.

Stars sparkling from way up above,

along with the coo of a lonesome dove.

Chimney smoke swirls high in the sky,

reminding me of days gone by.

Footsteps of strangers around the block,

taking their dogs for a nightly walk.

Things remembered and understood,

reminding me how much life is good.
