We Shouldn't Know

Folder:
2005 Poetry

I'm standing in the middle of nowhere,

the wind is blowing gently in my face.

I can see forever across my lifetime,

all the years from birth till my death.

These things are not meant for us to know,

for life should be filled with the unknown.

Surprises to be shared and cherished,

as well as sorrowed and cried upon.

Boring it would be if all was known

and we just went for a controlled ride.

No turns for us to choose and hills to coast,

before arriving at our predestined exit point.

So I slowly turn my back and look away,

not wanting to see all that there will be.

Charging forward and taking my gamble,

relishing all that is thrown in my path.

Till that day when it all comes to a stop,

and I move on for a new ride to start again.
