Dead Man's Gun

He lies in the sand

with six gun by his hand,

nothing but bone

'cause his flesh

rotted off long ago.

Thought he was fast

but found out he wasn't,

died and was buried

where he dropped.

Townsfolk came to see his corpse

spitting on his dead carcass,

for he had no friends there

after the things he did.

Now he lays

with sage brush

in his jaw,

his skull picked clean,

fingers no longer

able to shoot his gun.

Got his comeuppance

the story goes,

for he finally got

what he deserved.
