Awakened

Folder:
2003 Poetry

I awaken slowly from a deep sleep,

mind still groggy from my slumber.

A noise bringing me to reality,

somewhere off in the distance.

As the world creeps into my reality,

I begin to hear a faint ringing.

The phone, my mind comprehends.

The phone, answer the phone.

I stumble from my bed and run,

before the call goes unanswered.

Hello, hello who's there,

but alas I hear only the dial tone.
