Steeple of the People

Folder:
2002 Poetry

It’s steeple rises towards the Boston sky

And it's been around since the birth of the nation

Making a lot of people come, go, and say goodbye

Many we hold in great admiration

Fathers of this country so grand

Who's wisdom out shadowed their position

Men who weren't afraid to take a stand

With clear focus, setting aside their ambition

Lanterns were placed in it to warn of invasion

From those dressed in red with coats of the crown

Then off rode Revere letting all know the situation

Bearing this news riding through every town

He warned everyone so they could gather in might

With no one looking into their soul for a search

They picked up their weapons and were ready to fight

All thanks to the steeple of the Old North Church
