On the Road

2003 Poetry

Driving with my hands at ten and two

Really looking forward to seeing you

Been too long I've gone without your charms

Can't wait till I feel you in my arms

This traveling I do keeps us too far apart

Causing an emptiness that lingers inside my heart

The vision of your smile is always in my mind

Who ever said that love was blind

I have been seeing your amazingly blue eyes

Ever since we said our last good-byes

Weeks have gone by since our last embrace

Your sweet vision is impossible to erase

Finally home and I run to the door

With anticipation right down to my core

The door swings open and you're standing there

Your fragrant scent in the cool summer air

My traveled body forgetting all its aches

You arms around me is all it ever takes

The only good thing about being away so long

Is coming home to where I truly belong
