My Father's Bicycle

My father rides his bicycle almost every day. Early in the morning, just after waking up and having his early breakfast, or late at night after he comes back from a tiring workday, but he always finds the time to ride his bike. No matter what he’s feeling like, or how tired he is, or even the appointments he has, he always finds a way to make it to the mountains. His motivation for biking exceeds any other obstacle that could keep him from going. He loves the mountains since I can recall, “nature is the best company you can ever find”, he would say. For this reason, he chose Chipinque as his daily path for this biking exercise. This mountain isn’t easy to ride perhaps, it is one of the tallest mountains you can find in Monterrey city. Biking can seem so simple but it actually involves a challenging performance, first you stand at the bottom of it and realize that getting to the top will take you more than a thousand breaths. It seems to be impossible, everything looks so far away and the top of the mountain intimidates you more than ever. Then, there you are, riding the bicycle, pedaling with all your strength. Your muscles start to burn and you feel like giving up and going downhill, but the motivational side of your brain won’t let you stop until you reach the top. So there you are, pedaling your lungs out of your body, insisting to keep on going. Finally, when you get there, to the place you were expecting to be, the top of the mountain, everything feels so good and you feel proud of the tiring path since that was exactly what took you there. The satisfying feeling of knowing you accomplished what you first thought was impossible. My father isn’t any professional biker, neither an athlete but he is a perseverant man. He enjoys the satisfaction of accomplishing goals, difficult ones, therefore he always dares to do the impossible. He is passionate for his dreams, dreams that then turn into reality due to his unconditional dedication. This ride to Chipinque represents more than just a regular workout or exercise activity, it reflects the big things that my father has done for all of his family. The mountain represents the journey my father has lived through out life, not just a regular journey, but one full of effort and dedication, full of lessons and unexpected circumstances. This is why every time my father accomplishes something he really wanted to do, it reminds me of his bicycle.
