I Shall Wait

Folder:
Love poems

The years have gone by swiftly,

Like an eagle taking flight.

Yet thoughts of you envelope me,

Though these I try to fight.

I feel your love upon me,

Like the hot rays of the summer sun.

Your glowing eyes glance at me,

And I know my heart is done.

The years have added wrinkles,

Age spots and weight at your core.

But all I see is your beauty,

And for this I shall wait forever more

I try to run from my heart,

But it is in vain.

For your love pours upon me,

Like a summers rain.

I know you are my soul mate,

Though this you may not see.

But I believe in my heart,

What was meant to be will be.

One day you will come back to me,

And brighten up my life.

Drag me from my sorrow,

Away from the knife.

Deliver me to Eden,

On the wings of a dove.

Wrap me in your embrace,

Wrap me in your love.
