Under the Sun

I picture you under the sun

Your favorite place to be

I picture you in a garden

Planting watermelons, beans and okra

I picture you playing bingo

And hitting that last number

I picture you with your daddy

You always said you were a daddy’s girl

I picture you transplanting roses

Of every size and color

I picture you with a cup of coffee

Black, with 2 sugars

I picture you with a shovel in your hand

You always did have a green thumb

I picture you with your sisters

Playing nintendo til the late hours of night

I picture you in 90 degree weather

Because anything less was to cold

I picture you with a smile

That never leaves your face

I picture you in a grassy meadow

With warm rays on your cheeks

I picture the day

That I can finally be with you under the sun
