Au Revoir

You were my lover, my best friend

A part of me until the very end

But now from me, you must be taken

From this horrible nightmare, I cannot awaken

Fate it seems can be oh so cruel

And death it's bitter tool

I'm sure somehow this is all God's plan

As he takes your life now, in the palm of His hand

And I'm sure in some way, your death is to condone

Though I can hardly imagine why, as I'm left here all alone

I'd give up everything to spend with you one more day

No price too great to pay

Or even less, perhaps an hour

If to make it happen, I only had the power

But time is fleeting, a gift so rare

As life is fragile, thinner than mountain air

So it shall come to pass

That I must give you up at last

As continues the cycle of life

That heaven's gift is earth's strife

So on you are now, begone

To better times, a new day's dawn

But remember me always, until the day my fate is cast

That we might be together for eternity at last
