For the first time in my life

I was on steady ground

Then you walked into my life

And turned my world upside down



You were so much different

Than any girl I’d ever known

And so these last few weeks

Even closer we have grown



So now I am left to yearn

For a love so true

As to which I may never experience

So I am left here so blue



For it is this love

That I shall never feel

Such a love that only comes from you

Such a love that is so real



But it’s such a sorrowful thing

To realize that love which can never belong to me

For your heart shall always belong to another

Oh how lucky is he



I wonder if he realizes

The value of such a gift

If the flames should ever burn out

Through the ashes would he sift?



Would he climb the highest mountain

Or swim the farthest sea

Just to be with you

I wonder would he?



Because I can assure you

I’d tackle every daunting feat

If the reward should be your love

Then in that battle I cannot be beat



For I would go to any length

Simply to bring a smile upon your face

That such exquisite and divine beauty

Should not carry a tear so out of place



And I should be that shoulder

There for you to cry on

That I might never leave you to cry alone

So I would wait with you until the coming dawn



And I’ll be there as always

To pick up all the pieces

Of a fragile broken heart

Until your downward spiral ceases



And now I only wonder

If you might feel the same

Or if for all your problems

I might be to blame



I know things aren’t going really well for you

That from him your heart is tore

But if you might only give me the chance

For you a change might be in store



I’d be there for you always

Be there till the end of time

Till there’s no more rhythm

And no more rhyme



So please find comfort in me

Let these arms be your salvation

And together all the way

We’ll reach the final destination



We’ll make it all the way

Never looking back

Because together

There is nothing we lack



And if ever the sunny days

Should turn to a cloudy gray

If we find ourselves

In a state of disarray



If ever we should stray

Off the beaten track

Please have no fear

Do not be taken aback



For together as always

We’ll find the way

And still together into the sunset

We shall ride away



I hear it often said

That love is blind

But not this love of ours

It could and would be one of a kind



And yet still it is said

That so soft and gentle is your kiss

That to never feel your lips touching mine

Would be of life’s greatest joy to miss



So now that I took the first step

And made this the start

What might be your response

Now that I’ve poured out my heart
