Walking

Six years old,
Walking down a road,
My future is clear:
"When I'm older, I'm going to be an actress and a singer."
I knew what I wanted but I was only a child.

Nine years old
Walking down a road
My future is clear:
"When I'm older, I will be a lawyer. Acting is not practical."
I was smart enough to think and make my own decisions.

Eleven years old,
Walking down that road,
My future is blurry:
"I don't know what I want to be anymore. I have lost my ambition."
Depression strikes at me like a hungry lion.
Life seems to collapse all around.

Soon I meet a girl who shows me it will be okay.
Through the sadness, I look to her and find laughter.
She gives me what will be my greatest memory.

Thirteen years old,
Walking down this road,
My future remains unclear:
"I don't know what I will be. I'm okay with that."
I'm smart enough to know that I will be okay.
