The distant gaze in my eyes

That glances to the side. As I sigh

Well it is you, darling

Who put that in I.



Because of you, I fight and fight

To surface always, to carry a light

That keeps me aware

And safe inside



Because I know that this world does not

Have my best intentions at heart

It will suck me dry and leave me be

It will keep me in the dark



So now you’re gone, I close myself up.

I keep my eyes fixed

and my mouth always shut



I let the world disregard me entirely

And live as though pain

had made me think

And do



Ever so wisely.
