The first time I lay in a bed

And turn away my thoughts of you

Off into the darkness

I send them on their way

To be destroyed by time



Tonight, tonight

The first time that I sleep

And disregard my dreams of you

They escape from my soul

And out of my mouth

In a little breath of air



Tomorrow, tomorrow

The first day that I live

Without you in my life to hold

You exit my heart,

And a space evaporates

As I cast my eyes down at the world.
