Gangrene Childhood

Don't comment on my permanent frown

Or would smiles make you more secure?

Apologies and pardon me's, I'll put more effort into fooling you

Funny how emotions are controlled by society's conscience

Taught to feel until you're all grown up

So keep the truth locked under grin like infection under skin

Let this gangrene childhood eat you inside out

Until the disease starts to leak through but no one knows what's wrong with you

Invisible wounds cocooned in bacteria

Just let it spill through opened veins - the innocents are liars just the same

Conditioned to be and then left to destroy themselves

With the scheming of an innocent child

You wrap yourself in ignorance

Play by their rules, used as their tool

Until that infection spills out and it all crashes down

The aching is an unbearable burn, but still so much to learn

Where did the safe times go? Were they even there at all?

But while insecurity sets in

Until insanity's dream

Keep the truth locked under grin like infection under skin

Let this gangrene childhood eat you inside out.
