Jack

Fear,

   Fear keeps me here

Inside this box

   Until you touch my button,

Turn my crank,

          Pull my string

Just enough

       Then POP

          Out I come

   Catching you by surprise.

You squish me back in

    Chiding me for scaring you.

One thousand apologies

          master.

I will try to be more

         restrained next time.

I'm in the box again.

       Then you touch, turn,

          pull me again.

Please stop

       Please leave me be.

Trying,

       Trying,

  Then POP

       Out I come.

Sorry master.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem last night.  Tell me what you think it's about...there seems to be some confusion.  7/3/01
