The Moment

The Moment

The moment when the man was chained

For things that he was falsely blamed

The moment when the crowd turned up

To free the one who was corrupt

The moment when they slashed his back

Like butchers with a lamb did hack

The moment when they placed the thorns

With wicked laughs and verbal scorns

The moment when he held the tree

With beaten eyes could barely see

The moment when he walked to death

No word was spoken from his breath

The moment when they nailed him to

The cross he bore for me and you

The moment when they mocked and stared

With very few that really cared

The moment when the ebbing pain

Brought forth forgiveness in his name

The moment when the sins were taken

As Father turned, he was forsaken

The moment when the guilty's plea

Would then be met by grace to free

The moment when it was complete

He breathed his last and stopped his beat

The moment when his body lay

The stone would soon be rolled away

The moment when he rose again

Defeating death and killing sin

The moment when I knew my sin

Was why the Lord did enter in

The moment when I saw his pain

To give his son that we might gain

The moment when he calls to me

To accept his grace and set me free

The moment when I trust in thee

He grants me life eternally

The moment when my greatest pleasure

To know that Jesus is my treasure

The moment when I look above

And serve Him with a heart of love

The moment when I pass away

Into a life where I can say,

Thank you Lord for making me,

Because your love does overflow

You knew my sin before my birth

But greater love then did you show

You sent me Christ to take my sin

And carry it to the grave

A plan you fashioned before time

A plan to free and save.

You did not have to send your son,

But now I see his face.

And all this thanks to your love for me

Through Jesus in his grace.
