Couple Little Angels

October 21, 2003

I pretended to be

Somebody other than me

But in the end

You learned it was your angels from the weekend

Your guardian angel pin

Was to make up for every little sin

Everybody prayed for you

To get a new heart and make it through

Even though somebody had to die

For you to live, just think it wasn’t your turn to fly

God has now given you a second chance

So lets go, you know how to dance

Take it easy this time

And everything will be fine

Remember you have an angel looking out for you

Everyday, 24 / 7, not just your angels here, But Aunt Pat too

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem the weekend after I went to go see my uncle in the hospital in Jacksonville, he was in the process of waiting for a new heart so he could have a heart transplant at the age of 37. My sister and I bought him and angel pin with a golden heart on her dress. After we left he got a call, and he got his heart. When he came out of surgery, they told him that his neices gave him the pin, my grandma said that he started to cry.
