The truth

I take a long walk into the night
And once fully immersed in its darkness
I spot a faint light
I get closer and it is still dim
But I feel heat—and I am cold
So I approach it further
And I as come upon it
I am quickly overwhelmed
By its immensity and
its heat sears through my soul
Only to find me—in my essence
Black as night, cold as death.
