Their eyes

Behind those eyes

Paradise lies

In front of you smiles

The boy who tries and tries

To make the girl smile and love

The girl who only knows despise

Each day in bed she sleeps - she slowly cries

Thinking of beautiful things - the black crows and the butterflies

But in his attempt the boys heart slowly dies

His mind knows this isn’t wise

But his dying heart believes in her eyes

His dying heart believes otherwise

He wants to know why from happiness she shies

He knows he can make the girl who has never talked smile

And in doing so he will the cruel unbelieving kingdom surprise

He gazes up to the heavens in the skies

And he wishes a final wish – one final cry

The girl she appears before him

The silent music plays

The lights of the world dim

“Your eyes aren’t mine,” he says

“I’m trying to see what you see”

“But I’m finding it hard” he says

“I’m not you – you’re not me…”

She puts her fingers on his lips

“shh”

“You’re eyes aren’t mine” she says

“You will never see what I see”

In their smiles

I see the hatred that lies

Behind their hating eyes
