Let's Hear it for My Jeep

Folder:
Poems 2005

Another unfulfilled Monday morning
complete with raindrops to add to the depression
that collects water on the roof of my jeep.

You refuse to sit in the passengers seat
and, instead, resolve to merely lean against the baby blue side.
I told you you'd get dirt on your back.
Those aren't sparkles, but I guess even grime can look decorative.

There is laughter in those eyes of yours,
as you mention all those we left behind.
"Maybe they'll catch up one day,
     then we can run again."

The windows are foggy
and for once, its not our fault.
I can't be blamed for everything, you know,
I only do most of it
And the rest is still up to you.,
