Poems 2005

Glass eyes watch a memory,
unblinking so as not to miss a moment.
Motion picture snapshots
of glittering eyes
and soft, wet, pink mouths
laughing at a joke forgotten.
Smile, because he is there.

"Why when I look at you I want to embrace you?"

Sun splattered copper shoulders;
my computer geek with an Italian tan.
How was I the only one
to see past what was never there?

11 O'clock always came too soon.

Speeding down the highway
with the windows down,
pouring notes out of broken speakers
to drift on the wind behind us
and meld into the asphalt,
like a glittering tail
that could lead us back
to the beginning
and remind us
of where we've been.

If only we could find it.
