The division.
There was a time where men still hadn't walked the Earth and nature was just by itself.
The gods felt like something was missing and they decided to create new forms of life. They did, from one day to another the earth was full of living creatures. From big to small, from tall to short and from fat to thin ones. They created the perfect place for everyone to live in. It was such a place where every single animal felt comfortable and where there was abundant food.
They lived in peace for decades. But as happens in every good story something went wrong. Three animals didn’t feel beautiful and they had remained in silence all this time. They were jealous of the beauty of others.
The first one was the polar bear. He was jealous of the black bear, he wished to have his fur. He did the unthinkable, he set on fire the black bear burning all his fur. The second one was the camel, who was ashamed of his camelback. He wanted to be as gorgeous as the moose, with a plain back. So he just kept spitting to the moose over and over again. The last one was the dolphin, he had the capacity of walking on earth and swimming the sea but he was jealous of the owl who could fly in the sky. So, the dolphin tried to drown the owl by tempting him to try the water.
Many of the animals had the same doubts as the polar bear, camel and dolphin. They started to do terrible things to innocent animals. Now, what seemed as perfect peace turned into chaos. The lion and the tiger, two animals that were always concerned about the safety of the planet, decided to take action, each one commanded a group of animals to go against the creatures who had started the war.
The sun never came, the earth trembled and the oceans dried up. It was a chaos, it was war it was just about to end it all. The gods let their tears fill the oceans, took the earth in their hands stopping the shake and let their light illuminate the planet. They knew they have to do something about the creatures.
To the polar bear and all the animals who supported him. They were condemned to a place where they can’t do fire anymore. A place where the nights were long. With intense coldness and scarce food. The tundra.
To the camel and all the animals who supported him. They were condemned to a place with intense heat, where water was a precious thing and not to be thrown away. The dessert.
To the dolphin and all the animals who supported him. They were condemned to eternal life in the sea. They wouldn’t be able to touch the earth no more and if they did they will suffer a terrible dead.
To the lion and the tiger, due to their bravery they were given reigns. The jungle reign was given to the tiger and the savannah reign was given to the lion. All the animals they commanded had to option to go wherever reign they wanted.
And to the poor maltreated animals, the gods gave them a beautiful home with perfect weather and plants, a place without suffering. The forest.
And that was the way, the world was divided.
