From the Sky

Perhaps you fell from the sky
With a tiny piece of the sun
Galaxies shining in your eyes
Searching for someone
When you saw my soul immersed
You gently held each part
The sun, the moon, the universe,
And wrapped it round your heart
When you saw the glorious night
You passed it on to me
Whispering, "please love, hold it tight
For the universe must breathe"
I, a mortal, could not contain
The precious gift I owned
Your heart shattered and fell like rain
While your stars all flew back home
My sky turned black and empty
I cried, screamed, asked it why
And that is when it told me
With such a gentle little sigh
My sky cannot shine alone
Without yours there as guide
And as long as you've gone home
My heart will slowly die
But darling love, now I see
What I couldn't see before
And when I die I hope we'll be
Together on nights shore
Me, the piece of broken earth
That will never alone survive
You, the sum of all I'm worth
Keeping my soul alive
