True Cries

You can't always sit on the fence,

Sometimes you've got to attack or defend.

You can't always move with the tide,

Sometimes you've got to make a stand, take sides.

Listening is quite nice,

But you've also got to open your mind's eyes.

Close the door on lies,

Maybe then you could hear their true cries.

So remember when you're talking,

Sermoning at me,

I too have thoughts

That yearn to be free

I can't go on pretending

That I'm not me

My soul is hurting

But you just don't see

That I

I can't go on living these lies.

When you realize I can take sides,

Maybe then you could hear my true cries.
