Facts of life

Those things we begin to learn

Over time

The lessons that are often hard

And imprint themselves

To keep from further harm

Facts of life

Are what makes us move

After everything is gone

There is nothing left to lose

And as we stand

For the final fight

We begin to see hope

In the shining starlight

And as everything is wrong

Something clicks

Something's right

Take my hand

Soldier

You have to hold that head up high

I know it's hard

And the chances bleak

But we are only given tough times

To make us stronger on the way out

Danger's knocking at the door

We can hold out

A little more

Take a breath

And give one smile

The room may light

If we can see

All that's right

And remember the Facts of Life
