Teetering on the brink

it can't be what you think

another line, another drink

another night your spirit sinks-

into the liquid that consumes your all

poisoning your veins until you fall.

But what's a chance taken

when your life is at stake

what's the path mistaken

when all you've done is break?

Redemption at the least

leaves you the utmost pleased,

took perfect vision, 20/23

until one could clearly see-

the minds' not worth wasting

when you have hopes to believe-

believe in something more-

than burned bridges and slammed doors;

believe in something greater

than the high you get 

when you see the paper-

paperback, take that-

a scripture to be read

faith in something greater 

is a life well worth living,

giving another reason 

for you to get out of bed.
